The only post office for 35 miles
The Meeker Post Office sits on 6th Street in the center of Meeker, the county seat of Rio Blanco County. It is the town's only post office and serves residents, ranches and businesses across a large rural area in northwest Colorado.
The nearest other post offices are in Hamilton, Rifle, Craig and Rangely, all at least 35 road miles away over mountain highways. With no practical alternative nearby, the Postal Service has strong reasons to stay. That made the building a good fit for a lease renewal paired with a full renovation.
